as-Salaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,

I was given the amazing good will of stumbling across Manning Marable’s Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention. This goes hand in hand with much of what I said in Malcolm X: Not a Role Model.

It is the most thorough biography of the fallen Muslim brother and also provides in depth analysis of the several chapters that were deleted from the original manuscript of the Autobiography of Malcolm X.

Those that realise that a large portion of what Malcolm X intended for publishing was hidden or obfuscated by Alex Haley (a Republican against political violence being used by blacks in the cause of self defense or to further freedom movements) will no doubt be devastated but they may take solace in the knowledge that it has finally been presented.

Once complete with the work, I plan to write a thorough review, insha’allah. Unfortunately, Marable died three days before the publishing of the monumental work, a labour of love that took him 20 years to complete.

Those that want to know more about him should research his works and other books. Until then, I ask that the Slaves of Allah research and stay safe.

was-Salaam,

brother in Islam,

Al-Hajj Abu Ja`far al-Hanbali

  1. Assalaam alaykum,

    Jazakum Allah khayran for this.

I’ve just done some reading up on the book and its author, and I’ve just learned that Mr. Marable died on April 1 of this year due to pneumonia.

Nonetheless, the book is stirring up a lot of discussion.

    Jazakum Allah khayran,

    Assalaam alaykum,

    Mahdi
