A New Milestone

The moon was not sighted on Friday night by myself nor by the noble scholars and people of Morocco, possessing the oldest university in the Muslim world (just ahead of Al-Azhar in Egypt).

It is thus the case that 1 Muharram 1436 AH will be on the upcoming Sunday. We hope in Allah that this year will be nobler for us in deeds and creed than the one that had come before and with Allah is every success.

Was-Salaam,

Al-Hajj Abu Ja`far Al-Hanbali

P.S. I had earlier misprinted that it had been seen on Friday, which was a mistake due to a computer error on my part in reading the text as it was not clear and some of the words were cut off. I do apologise for this oversight.

The End of the Year 1435: Looking for the Crescent Moon

I would like to thank everyone for the support and other supplications that they made for me in this noble year. Tonight we will know whether we are in the last of 1435 or the beginning of 1436.

The New Year will mark 1,436 years since the emigration of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, from Makkah (after 13 years of persecution) to Al-Madinah. This changed the face of history.

If it comes into a new year tonight, I ask that the Slaves of Allah make supplication for me. If it is not, I ask that the Slaves of Allah supplicate that in this 30 day month we use the rest of the time remaining for good before it elapses.

And with the Lord of Truth is all success.

Al-Hajj Abu Ja`far Al-Hanbali
